Acidosis is Not a town in Greece


ac·i·do·sis \ a(s’i(-do-‘si(s \ noun: “An abnormal condition of reduced alkalinity of the blood and tissues, usually a result of excessive acid production.

The acid- alkaline balance is the single most important aspect of leading a healthy disease-free life. The disturbance of this balance, leading our body to become more acidic is acidosis (also known as metabolic acidosis).

How does acidosis affect our health and our lives? This question is becoming more and more urgent as North Americans discover that their dietary practices drift towards acidity at a staggering pace.

Each and every cell in our body is affected by the pH of the fluids that surround it. Chronic over-acidity (acidosis) deteriorates our tissues and interrupts or hinders all cellular activities and functions. Our daily lives are full of components leading to acidosis: inadequate water intake, acid-forming diets, lack of physical activity, bad air and water quality, stress, smoking, substance abuse (to name a few) – the list is long and frightening!

How does acidosis manifest in our daily functions? Chronic fatigue, insomnia, frequent stomach problems, gout, sore muscles, even heart disease and cancer. Every disease can virtually be traced back to over-acidity and acidosis.

Is there light at the end of this acidosis tunnel?

The answer is absolutely YES!

Restoring acid-alkaline balance and eliminating acidosis requires physical , as well as, emotional shift. Here are some simple, common-sense ways to say goodbye to acidosis:

1. Drink you way out of Acidosis: By far the easiest, fastest and most proven way of preventing and reversing acidosis is drinking alkaline water. The best way to produce alkaline water is through a water ionizer. Alkaline water is richer in oxygen than all other waters and its smaller molecular structure makes it pass through the membranes easier. Alkaline water binds acidic waste and makes it soluble in the blood vessels. Therefore it is easier for our cleaning organs (kidneys, liver, sweat glands) to discard of the acidic waster.

2. Feel your way out of Acidosis: Shift your emotions and become more positive! Negative emotions literally create acidic environment in your body through the release of certain chemicals associated with them. Become more positive. Think of the glass as half full rather than half empty

3. Eat your way out of Acidosis: In addition to drinking alkaline water, acidosis can also be eliminated by eating alkaline-rich foods properly combined. Try to incorporate more leafy greens and vegetables in your daily diet. If the task is initially daunting, use some of the many alkalizing supplements like alkaline drops or green drinks.

4. Move your way out of Acidosis: Moderate, reasonable exercise is alkalizing for our body. Make a point of going for a walk to the beach or just around the block. You will be surprised at the positive chain reaction this will cause in your body.
